  1. i seem to attract bumble bees, they really whack on the visor, whats that black dot, bang.
  2. can't have enough old bikes imo
  3. yes like them, did you do it for looks or better vision? Did the same myself for both reasons although as has been said by mansod makes it difficult to put round the back of the house.
  4. sounds all wrong, seems one side wins the other gets nothing whereas there is at least shared blame although why shouldn't the bike rider be wherever, nearside, middle or offside if he is on the right side of the road. apart from injustice this higlights the dangerous nature of our roads. this morning I waited at a junction for the road to be clear before pulling out (in a car) because I hate it when cars pull out in front of me - the young woman in the car behind hooted me for doing so.
  5. xs650 is beautiful, when I was single started off tinkering with my gt 380 in the garage then gradually it crept into the living room with the gt 750's engine. Move them out if there were visitors coming. of course those days are long gone and just recently my mrs has been talking about the garden being nicer without the shed. thinks '.....not....my...shed...aghh' (but you mustn't let it show).
  6. well I agree with you two wheels - gives more confidence in an expensive purchase.
  7. simplicity and traditional appearance has something and might be collectable one day however no rear suspension other than seat springs by the look.
  8. tried bikesure when looking about but they had a loading for motorbikes parked overnight on driveways - shame thought about saying round the back but it's such a hassle.
  9. talking about getting out, y/day car in front randomly stops without warning similarly another car across the road - Get back to scene on foot to use cash point, both cars pulled over and two drivers talking, old mates, they fancied a chat. later at a car park see man shuffling an estate full of kids about, stop and wait, eventially he reaches the exit/entrance and brakes centimeters from my bike - he was distracted by the children and not looking forward. Watch out everybody there's a lot more like em.
  10. thats madsods bike wow - must be an RF900RT then, I want one!
  11. if you stop let me know what you think of the place won't you - hope the weather is good.
  12. don't know the model but the suzi 900 is a nice looking machine.
  13. had a ride out today after being drenched a few days earlier - sun was great but completely forgotten about them pesky flies, didn't have a damp rag to hand being caught out.
  14. thanx fr499y and stan - third party fire and theft with legal protection just under £100 seemed the best compromise after a load of messing about went with Bennetts
  15. meeting a biker friend there (as it's about half way between our homes) on Friday but the internet isn't shownig much of interest, main motorcycle dealer is Skellerns (Yamaha) - looking for a good place to eat and anything else if anybody knows the town.
  16. was a member yrs ago when I had a 'kettle', wish I'd kept it as they are worth lots now, actually it was quite a scary bike to ride being top heavy and with a poor back brake (drum).
  17. what with all the changes at work and a few other things went out for a bike ride the other evening and ended up in a pub that I used to go in as a student (a few hundred years ago) - whole place had been revamped but some of the atmosphere was still there oddly enough. suppose it's a bit sad going off for a ride/drink like that but it did me the world of good and the pub was reasonably welcoming
  18. currently with footman james, just got a quote from carole nash - fairly compatible except 'sensible' extras like legal protection and payouts if you have a certain type of injury are suggested. do you go for the whole package, comp, no claims protection, legal protection, injury cover? what was a quiet little insurance third party fire theft on a bike value £800 is turning into a much more expensive and complex proposition, normally paid around £90 but looking at around £130 with the stuff suggested (limilted mileage/no passengers). Suppose I had better go for it with all the nutters on the road these days?
  19. new 'work environment' ok getting used to it, old set up = imagine a normal office, you like some people near you and not others but there isn't much to be done so you accept it new set up is that you choose a desk in advance (up to three weeks) so you book it for the days you will be in, rest of the time you work at home. turns out that like minded people tend to cluster so you end up more with people you like than previous as all can see who has booked what - you book any desk that is free in a massive room. downside is that it all takes place in a call centre situation, rows of desks so its noisy and disruptive, like working in a library or a railway station on a bad day. No objects higher than 1.2 m so you can see from one end to the other. cloud based operating system has loads of glitches, still got a job and don't have to be in all week

    My New Boots

you never know, smart boots and all, you could still turn the head of a suitable female and maybe she'd get to see your nice carpets
  21. thanks Stue, my other forum is the yam diversion club but it's a bit clique orientated - just use it for spares. It's mostly about the 900's although you sense a grudging fondness of the lowly 600 which I suppose most of them owned once.
