Gracee, I believe in praying like Jesus prayed. He was always led by God. He did nothing without God instructing Him how to do so. Ask God how to pray and in the mean time I will pray with you. This is how Jesus prayed for protection: 8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. Father, I pray for Gracee and her house - that you would protect her and her home and family, and please keep her safe, even as Jesus prayed for His disciples Father, when He asked you to protect them by the power of your name which you gave to Him - in Jesus' name we pray.

I think devotions has turned into something of a chore to be checked off the list instead of a true search for God because of your love and devotion. I would say what Cholette said... just seek God first and foremost with your heart. It doesn't have to be one way or the other. It can be by watching a great preacher, reading or studying your bible, singing or listening to praise, praying.... or any other thing that you feel like doing that will bring you into God's presence.

AW, I think one of the reasons that we are not to be exposed to that kind of thing is that unhealthy environments effect us negatively. It's like trying to get into a pool without getting wet. You can't do it. If God asks us to visit someone with a special person we should be open to that because He will anoint us and shield us from it but otherwise do what the bible says and don't sit with scorners, etc.

The bible talks very plainly about not associating with believers who are bearing fruit that contradicts their life in Christ: I Cor. 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

We were posting at the same time Mia...I get the same thing when it's time for me to give a word to someone. It happens in church A LOT, especially during worship!! That's usually when it happens for me too. Or when I'm with churchfolk.

We can never put him in a box............ EVER That is so nuts! I just and I MEAN JUST got through typing those very words to someone else in a PM seconds ago!
