Okay no need to worry guys and gals but I thought I'd let you know I had an accident on the bike today. Nothing too big luckily was only doing about 20. A car pulled out a side road on my left and I was just getting up to speed to not tearing away or it could have been nasty.

Bike seems okay just a scratch that I won't claim unless the bikes bent at all.

Myself I'm okay, just a bruised stomach, painful wrist, and it shook me up quite a bit.

Still could have been a lot worse just means no bike for a bit as I can't pull the clutch in Sad

Also bikes fine as my tyre hit his wing. He couldn't open his door, and was deep so he came off a lot worse

Got to agree with the others firstly get to the docs get yourself checked and then report to the insurance because if his car is damaged he will and then your ins will be all over it.
The bike needs checking

agree You really need to get yourself checked out Chad 20mph is a fair old impact mate could have hairline fractures or worse you need to be sure, same with the bike Chad forks and headstock have taken a good wallop and as it wasn't your fault, get your insurance company informed. Hope your back 100% soon mate! thumbs

Hi,

I had a very similar impact in September 11, only the car hit the side of the bike, rather than bike hit side of the car. The speed was about 20ish. Bike was written off. Full claim taken from drivers insurance. You don't owe the driver out. If it was their fault claim. Your helmet is useless, never use a helmet that been involved in an accident. If you were hurt the police should have attended the scene and took statements from you both. Did an ambulance attend. You need to replace all biking gear that you were wearing. You need to put the claim through! You dont know whats broken if anything on the bike and you don't wanna find out on the move! or it could be RIP

Oh and by LAW you have to inform your insurance company! Even if not your fault and 100% of claim is going through drivers company.

how much would a specialist cost as im flat broke? and found the front wheels buckled slightly, and it feels twitchy, also got jordan to ride it as hes ridden it a few times before and he agreed with me.

yep if its just wheel i dont mind if its replaced like when someone hit my car it was £70 to repair so it was done the next week. but if forks etc are bent then i will be talking to his insurance

his insurance will assess the bike from top to bottom and prob provide you with a courtesy bike! You should contact them especially if you are skint. You should not be paying for an inspection of the bike, particularly if incident not your fault.

Sorry to hear Chad.Get checked out mate.It sounds like you gonna have to claim because of your bike anyway.Respect for a young one(or anyone) for not trying to claim falsely(sp) for injury but it wont take much to write your bike off.Did you damage any clothing etc.If they write ya bike off so be it but u might get to buy it back for a good price. Why should you loose or have to lift a finger to put anything right.
Just my op m8 thumbs

If you are going to put a clame in to his insurance do not leave it to long & find out how bad you are as the insurance comp may say you have left it to long and will drop the £ on every thing they have to pa out for.

Glad you are ok and good luck

okay good news on me feeling a lot better and been workin in a bodyshop today with very little pain.

bike wise where the wheels buckled i told him he could replace it as £100 to £150 for a new one, he said he cant afford it and would pay to have it refurbed, that sayd from £75 i bet you it will be more for mine.

yet some how hes fixe dhis car first

hes going to take my wheel down thursday, if he doesnt sort it i will be contacting his insurance and he can pay the high excess rather than pay £110 for a nice wheel and be done with it thumbs

Chad dont mess about go straight to the insurance. Are you going let someone take your wheel and get it fixed by someone you dont even know is qualified to fix it. If its alloy it needs special treatment to remove stresses and limit cracking. I would put it back on my bike. You need a proper inspection on that bike m8. What if something else goes wrong and you have another mishap? Dont trust him. I could make you a receipt for that with a bogus name, it means nothing

oh dear you haven't let him take care of it surely? Honestly tell your insurance before it's too late, he's going to mess you about and do god only knows what if you dont, whatever you do dont trust him with anymore of your bike, for all you know he might sell it.

agree This is, as everyone else has said, the correct answer.

Glad you're (almost) fairly OK though mate. Bear in mind if the shoe was on the other foot, it's most likely that he would be getting a quote from the dearest bodyshop in town, as well as making calls to an ambulance-chasing company about his whiplash/backache/erectile dysfunction.

Tell him you want a new wheel and he can have to old one get it repaired and sell it to recoup some of his money. The last he can do it get you a new wheel or as the others have said its time for the insurance company.

No need for me to say anything as it's already been said in earlier posts. If you're wheels buckled Chad, new one, not refurbed. Would you buy a refurbed front wheel for your bike? Would anyone on here? I certainly wouldn't, not prepared to take that risk. As ken said earlier

Tell him you want a new wheel and he can have to old one get it repaired and sell it to recoup some of his money. The last he can do it get you a new wheel or as the others have said its time for the insurance company.

As flange said earlier, respect for trying to do it properly, but this guy is taking the pixx. No money for your wheel, but gets his car repaired? I think he's seen a young lad and is taking advantage. Stop waiting for him Chad and set the wheels in motion.

August not that far away and there'll be a few lads down there with you. Nip round and see if he's in Twisted EvilTwisted EvilTwisted Evil

All respect too you on the not trying to make a fast buck! but if this guy shafts you.

You might need to visit a GP. Damaged wrists could have huge impact upon your career as a crafts man/body specialist. Just remind him of this.
