  1. you would be better off changing the master cylinder to one of these. 6 pot calipers wont neccesarily make your brakes any better. http://www.harris-performance.com/acatalog/Brembo_Master_Cylinders.html I have indeed thought about that, but I'm not in a position to blow the thick end of 300 quid to improve the braking on my oldest bike. I was thinking more scrapyard TBH, ideally some Nissin Fireblade calipers, depends what might be available. And yes, six pots aren't without their problems.
  2. Need to try & get my ZZR in for mot this week. Just fitted new front brake pads, keep thinking about some six pot calipers to beef up the braking.
  3. Just got in, now off to work. Nice to see you & Mel again Dave, regards to Dennis. Took a quick pic near Surprise View just before you passed me again.
  4. No sweat Dave, only pulling your leg. I've just been to get my VFR from work (my slowest bike ) Unless I get a dire emergency I'm going. Might see you there TBH then we'll see how things play out.
  5. Getting slightly nervous-I keep seeing the word slow. Do you know what the route is from the services mate? Not sure how to go about it if I can dodge work on Saturday.
  6. Nice ride to the Yondermann but their brekkie is overrated. I might be around on Saturday, will let you know
  7. Not interested but I have to say Cadwell was my favourite track when I did follow racing. And the Mountain is one of the best spots without a doubt.
  8. Oh jeez it's getting closer- if you don't wind up with blue bolts in it I'll stand shagging.
  9. Sorta likewise-I have a couple of tank bags.
  10. Just been looking at the R Nine T, looks quite a funky thing TBH. Better buy than the Yam and I can't think of a better alternative. Guzzi make similar bikes but I'd worry every time I went out and most European stuff (Speedy, Tuono, KTMs) are a bit more headbanging. I like it.
  11. I went on a VFR forum run a while ago with a chap riding an MT-01. Sounds good, bit gonzo for my taste maybe but looked quite fun really. Have to say I've never been a big BMW fan but they must be doing something right
  12. Don't buy a Z900 unless you simply want an occasional Sunday out to impress people. Carbs which weren't great when new, those brakes you'd consider lethal by modern standards, and a bamboo frame. I rode one back from Stafford when my mate got a similar bee in his bonnet, and it has utterly put me off the notion of buying an older bike for daily use. Basically, it tore off my rose tinted specs good and proper. Not even powerful MT-01, much nearer the mark. It will probably actually work.
  13. Something like this, gives a bit of added insurance. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/161124341991?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108
  14. Get yourself some of that thread sealant? Made by Loctite, but not Loctite it actually is a kind of rubber sealant which acts as an anti vibration measure to keep the nut in place. I'll see if I can find some on the net.
  15. "•The assembly is very easy: through a simple hexagonal key" Well, yeah, a socket I assume they mean. But no means of locking it in place. My axle has a hole through the middle to pass a split pin or R clip through, so the nut can't back off. Surely yours does too?
  16. Not sure I'd fancy an alloy axle nut mate TBH. No facility for a split pin or R clip by the look of it either.
  17. OK, quite nice Dave. Just promise me you won't buy any anodised blue engine casing bolts.
  18. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Oulton is a belting track. Pretty nice ride to it as well.
  19. Good work Dave, sorry I couldn't make it. That dam you photographed I assume is Howden. It's a belting walk along the hilltop behind, along Derwent Edge. Maybe one of these days I'll get out with you, but glad you enjoyed it.
  20. On a 14 year old bike? Extremely doubtful mate.
  21. On the way back from my job in Ely I followed a Bandit through a horrendous downpour. Didn't envy him at all Looks good for tomorrow though
  22. wtf are you on about dick. I didn't like to ask either I think it was a play on words. We are discussing regular contributors.
  23. Dad, what's a lesbian? Ask your mum, he'll know! RIP Spike Milligan
