Years ago I helped run a couple of bike clubs. The great majority of members were happy to seldom turn up, never help organise anything, but almost universally were quite perturbed when in time, both clubs folded. Nowadays very many people are happy to use their computer in a similar manner. Don't take it personally Dave, seemingly it's human nature. The majority of people are natural lurkers.

Yes it looks pretty ambitious, but it looks like being a nice day so why not? Enjoy if you decide to take it on dude. PS a good chunk of that is in what we call bandit country. The very southern part of Scotland contains some very keen traffic cops and camera crews who like nothing more than doing a sassenach. Take it easy.

In all the rain and work, the wife has relented, and is prepared to ride the ZZR back from Spain with me in July. Just booked flights out to Barcelona, around a week at the flat, then return to be decided. It looks however like a ride across the middle of Spain to Leon via Soria overnight. Couple of nights in Leon which looks a fab city, then ride to Santander through the Picos de Europa. Can do that in a day for the night sailing, or maybe stay a night somewhere like Potes. Best get saving.

Well, I don't think they'd win any beauty contests, although I'd say the same about my ZZR. In fact, I can't think of a good looking really big bike. Once you get to about 1200cc it seems to be a design requirement to be ugly as sin (sorry to any members, me included ) But did you mean a barge, or a narrowboat common mix up these two.

Had a ride out for a coffee at the top of the Col d'Ares before flying back to dear old Blighty. Was alone so got a bit of a dab on coming back on the N-232 from Morella. Perfect day for it too. About halfway up. The village in the background is more or less where the cafe is. My favourite thing-sunshine, a bike, and a stop for a cortado. Had a quick word with a Spaniard on his way down. A couple of pics taken from the edge of the cafe's car park.

Starting to see things my way Dave your problem I think will be almost certainly having a less powerful bike. That's the first thing. It can be done though, and you need to, because the best tourers are behemoths and I think you may do better going down a little for something that's a bit more fun to ride. I'd certainly say Sprint GT is a front runner in my book. Pans, FJRs, BMW et al are just fooking monsters and when fully loaded can be a pain in the ass. I can honestly say I'm happier on my VFR now than my ZZR, for example. What I'd do with a bigger bike now I shudder to think.

Just taxed my Speedy 6 months only, that gets me to the end of October, and done my ZZR for the year-hopefully riding it home later this year and I'm off to Spain next Saturday so should get out & about a bit. £128 gone in the blink of an eye. Good job I don't smoke, drink or basically have any kind of life.
