  1. front wheel off a CBR 600 is supposed to fit straight in and of all the big sports bikes the blade is the cheapest to insure because Insurers think that blade owners tend to be more mature and sensible. Might be, but dont forget chad is 19... his insurance is gunna be a killer for big bikes Yes the front from a 600 does fit but im sure its a thinner wheel? It is, the standard tyres a 130/70/16 and the CBR 600 is a 120/70/17.doesnt make a deal of differance in the real world theres plenty of people done the mod and the differance in grip level you would get will be minimal if any.besides swapping to a 17 inch wheel lets you pick from much more modern and capable rubber than is available for the 16.

  3. I would be tempted to go for the Fireblade, cracking bike, a lot lighter than the ZX9 and will handle better as well.My mate at work bought a ZX9,think its about 2000/2001 ish and he had a bit of an off,he found second hand parts are starting to get a bit thin on the ground for them,he also found its not as easy to get things like decent crash bungs and a few other bits and pieces to upgrade it.
  4. if only they were a bit cheaper.. like 12 grand cheaper.
  5. If you think thats fast can you imagine how fast this is with 193 bhp and quite a few kilos less weight http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=26298
  6. well its sick again, got to go in for surgery.Had a bit of a rattle for a couple of weeks now so I took it in for the "technician" to have a listen to and he reckons its the camshaft rocker thats knackered.might be a bit of good news though, theyre going to contact Ducati on monday morning to see if they will pick the bill up.
  7. what I'm getting at is even if the speeds taken from a gearbox shaft, when the bike leans over its effectively running on a smaller diameter part of the tyre so the wheel will turn faster for any given speed, therefore (big word) if the wheel is spinning faster then the engine and gearbox must be spinning faster for the same speed. If you go into a corner and hold the throttle steady you can sometimes hear the engine revs rise a little as you lean over then slow down as you straighten up.If you look at a rear tyre theres probably between 1-2 inches differance from the crown of the tyre to the edge, that makes a 2-4 inch reduction in the rolling diameter when leant over on the edge of the tyre so effectively,a 17 inch rim with a tyre on it has an outside diameter of say 22 inches and the edge of the tyre is going to be somewhere around 18-20 inches diameter, thats a big differance. Ill shut up now I'm starting to bore myself a little.
  8. Sat bored at work and just got to thinking how accurate a bike speedo is when the bikes going round a corner. Obviously the speedos something like when your riding in a straight line on the Center of the tyre but when you lean over your effectively running on a smaller diameter as your running nearer to the edge of the tyre. Way too mich time on my hands.
  9. found a free app for the Iphone in the app store called Pirelli Diablo biker, tried it out today and its fantastic.switched it on and went out for a ride it logs your speed lean angle and route either on the road or if you select track it will record your lap times, when you finish it shows a graph i havent figured it out yet, your maximum lean angle, speed and you can then go to the map where you can track what speed and lean angle you were doing at any point on your route.well handy to shave the odd tenth off your journey to work.also handy if your just exploring new roads and cant remember where you went, you can save the info by date and go back to it at any time so you can retrace your route.
  10. The Hillsborough Disaster what really happened. This might lose me some friends but this is what really happened on that day, this is not the media PC version or the opinions of somebody who has never been to Hillsborough, this is what I personally witnessed and I spent the first 30 years of my life living less than 100 yards from the Leppings Lane entrance and yes i was there on the day.Firstly the people who died were not to blame, the people to blame for this were the 10,000 Liverpool fans who turned up at the Leppins Lane entrance at 2.50 pm full of beer after being in the pub and expecting to get in.Quite a few of these fans didnt have tickets (this happened every year the FA cup semi final was held here) and were just hoping to gatecrash their way in.As the crowds built up on Leppings lane the police had no option but to open the gates otherwise the people at the front of the crowd would have been killed.course when the fans at the back saw this they surged forwards hoping to get in for free but the consequences of their actions is well documented.several points need addressing concerning the circumstances around the fatalities. firstly there was a tendency to delay the start of a football match back then if all the fans weren't in the ground this led to people spending more time in the pub knowing they wouldnt start without them, second the Barriers inside the ground, these would not have been there if there wasnt a culture of invading the pitch and kicking the sh*t out of each other at every available oportunity.thirdly the police and ambulance service were criticised for not responding quickly enough but imagine if every event was policed with enough officers to cope with a major disaster how many people would protest at the extra cost on their council tax/tickets. As i said before I lived Just off leppings lane for 30 years and i have seen this behaviour time and time again and it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Finally for the past 20 odd years the families of the deceased have been saying all they want are answers and to know what really happened to their loved ones, now they have the "answers" they wanted they are saying its not enough,so what exactly do they want.

  15. so Mike Hailwood,Giacomo Agostini,Bill Ivy,Barry Sheene,Jarno sarrinen,Kenny Roberts, are no good.this man is a pen*s the sooner he drops off the radar and retires to a remote island the better,he is the most arrogant to55er I have ever had the misfortune to meet.
  16. Give 'em time for it to sink in I think these days people might be a little more tolerant of the disturbance and noise if it brings employment and money into the area for now anyway, things might change when/if the economy recovers. let you into a little secret if you promise not to tell anybody the problem at croft has nothing to do with noise, the circuit manager was playing away and his wife found out so she kicked him out and guess who is now spearheading the anti noise campaign.
  17. looks great, its about time we had some new circuits built.
  18. this weekend its the world wheelie contest at Elvington airfield near York.Im trying to find some more info on this but its not easy, anybody fancy it? http://www.elvingtonairfield.co.uk/
  19. I had an 07 cbr1000 for 4 years and at first i loved it but as i got to know it i started to agree with what all the magazine testers say about them,Yes theyre incredibly fast, good handling, stable and do everything very well theres just something missing from them, they just lack that bit of caricature/excitement whatever you want to call it.Its hard to say exactly whats missing, once I had got a few miles on it I really fell out with it and i wondered if I was falling out with biking but it turns out it was the bike.some people love them but personally even though ive never had an R1 i would probably go for that over the honda.good bits and bad bits of the Honda, the steering damper is fantastic, but on the other hand its probably too good at isolating all the little twitches you get through the bars, the brakes, even though theyre radially mounted theyre not a patch on the brakes on the older 954 version, reliability, its a typical Honda it will run till the end of time (or until the reg/rec packs up which is usually about 25,000 miles)the engine is very much like a big 600 in that theres not much power till it gets to about 7 or 8,000 rpm (if i remember correctly) then it all comes in at once so it can be "interesting" if you come out of a corner in too low a gear, open the throttle and get 160bhp going to the back wheel,on the other hand if you come out of the same corner a gear higher and open the throttle, nothing happens. if you do decide on the honda, dont be put off by a few miles on the clock, theyre not properly run in till theyve got 5 or 6,000 miles on them and will easily go on to do 50,000 miles+ with no problems if theyre properly looked after with regular oil changes and valve clearance checks.theres also a mod you can do to the airbox to increase the power a little if you google flapper valve mod it will show you what to do.Tyres. i used to put michelin pilot powers on mine, the original Bridgestones lasted about 3k a pair but the michelins lasted 4-4.5k rear and around 6k front. (thats miles not KM)cant think of much else for now but if I do ill post it later and if you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask.

    HG OIL

I had a similar problem with Halfords own brand, gearchanges were sticky and the motor just sounded rough so i changed back to castrol and everything was fine.chucked the rest of the Halfords stuff away, so in trying to save a couple of quid i ended up chucking £25 worth of crap oil away and buying what i should have bought in the first place.
