  1. So it's pretty much as I thought. I'll go for the cheap cleaner. The tank isn't as bad as I thought though. Just covered in brown sticky goo, 'orrible. Am stripping and cleaning out one of the carbs each evening as I'd go nuts trying to do them a in the same night
  2. Was just wondering if anyone has used any carb cleaners lately. The FZR has stood for a while and although they don't look too bad I need something to clean out the gunk and glaze. I've seen cleaners ranging from £12 (Motul) down to about £4 and because I'm very mean I don't want to pay more than I have to
  3. Think the exhaust bits you mean are the collets. Are they CV carbs and do they have a duel cable push-pull set up. If you can't sort it I could pm you my email if you can take a few pics.
  4. Feel a bit like the prophet of doom here. I have serious doubts about this guy's mechanical know how Just a few points... Rotor carriers are steel and not aloominum I'd only ever use brake cleaner as it leaves no oily residue and never any sort of oil lubricant which will inevitably collect in the bobbin's nooks and crannies migrate onto the face of the rotor through the action of centrifugal force And the buttons are actually called bobbins just to be pedantic Did anyone else spot the mismatched bolts holding the disc on. Ok I know I'm a bit about these things, just can't help it, I'm fussy where brakes are concerned
  5. welcome to the forum even though your another Bandit owner
  6. Hiya Cab, was lovely to see you on Thursday, it's always nice to have you over and can't wait for the Stranglers gig. Tammy said you'd been out for a ride today and you didn't call in for a cuppa is it because we're about to drop the motor out of the Exup Oh and welcome to the forum it's great to see you here Guys, Cab is our best mate and if you need the best chippy money can buy he's your man.
  7. One tiny issue. Graphite is a very good conductor. Great dry lubricant but I'd avoid getting it into the switch part of the lock. All very good advice though.
  8. Awww, I'll buy you all a sundae boys, not a problem
  9. OMG, OMG, OMG..... This is the bike, I'm utterly smitten. If I owned one of these I don't think I'd ever want another bike. My life will never be complete unless I blag enough cash to order one, swoon! What's Buell
  10. yamaha changed loads of the engine internals lighter crank forged pistons etc mines got a nice light clutch its only five gears doesnt need anymore, neutral can be a bit tricky at times chain adjustment helps there,i dont know about swapping the clutch its the same engine block so i would have thought so hope that helps sophie Thanks Dick, I knew they'd sorted the distortion issues which caused the oil consumption problem. Honest, when I went to Greece on her I wish I'd bought shares in oil companies Working on her last night and noticed one of the fork oil seals is weeping Another 'little' job to add to the list I'd be quite tempted to put a YZF motor in if I came across one at the right price. Where did you say you parked yours Dick?
  11. Ah, I did wonder why there were so many Bandit riders. I've owned a couple of GSXR 11's, up until some scumbag nicked the last one, an M Love the ThunderAce Dick. Yamaha sorted the issue with cylinder block distortion and a few other FZR glitches. Nice bike and pretty Quick question, I'm sure you know about how hideous the FZR clutch is. Is the YZF any better and if it is is it a straight swap?
  12. Now it might just be me but lets look carefully at this. Never had an MoT, heavily rebuilt, no oil pumps. Sounds like a track bike. Very expensive too.
  13. Yes, but about your compresser..... I think Tammy has just ordered a suitable blow gun from fleabay Tammy loves her air rifles and this is right up her street. Thanks for the link Tony
  14. Was just wondering if there are any other FZR1000 owners, everybody seems to ride Suzuki's.
  15. When I saw the title I thought 'awww this'll be rubbish' Now I've seen it I bloody well want one
  16. no way would i laugh, thats a cool bike Awww that's very sweet of you Dave, your obviously a gentlman With all the talk of twin turbo, nitrous injected Busa's I thought everybody would laugh at my 55hp home made hybrid. I've always wanted one and rue the day I turned one down for £650 as I thought the seller was a cheeky hippy bugger. He reckoned he could beat me on my CBX Have you seen the ridiculous money people are asking for them nowadays?
  17. Agree with all the sentiments expressed earlier in this thread. Does anyone remember the bait bike article from years back in PB? Now far be it from me to suggest anything like that but..... I think it' is the only way to deal with these little Will keep everything peeled with regard to the bikes mentioned and especially the one from Lichfield as it's close to us. Good luck luck getting to the bottom of things boys.
  18. I don't watch Moto GP as I find it a bit boring, Superbikes are beter but these are the guys who do it for me. Brave beyond words and talented beyond my imagination. I love 'em. The only thing I don't like is the worrying before the NW and TT as it does upset us when the risk is brought home. My fave clip Soz 'bout the music Dave but I love this when I don't have time to watch Closer to the edge.
  19. I remember riding one of these things back in the 80's in standard trim and coming back to the shop bathed in sweat. Yes they were fairly fast but then again any speed would feel fast with the push bike quality rolling chassis. God knows what a chopped version is like, I dread to think
  20. Now, I'm going to bare my soul and if you lot laugh and take the I'm going to huff.... This is what I really, really want. Triton Mine MUST have a manx frame, slightly slimmer than a slimline. 650 pre unit. Swept backs. Conical rear hub and 4 leading shoe front drum the size of a bin lid. Short Roadholders with the exposed springs. Manx style tank. I could go on all night. Oh and I want to build it myself, you get the picture, sigh. Can't find the smiley for orgasmic, perhaps a new one is needed for moments like this, Dave???
