changing bar end weights ?
ptolemyx replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
No Dave, the B-king is as Madsod described. It's a bit like a glorified wellnut. loosen a few turns - tap the bolt inwards to release the grab the rubber bit has on the inside of the bars - pull whole assembly out - reassemble using stock bits with your new aftermarket weights......simples If you do lose a nut down into the bars, once both assemblies are off simply push it through with whatever flexible wire/brush thingy you have to hand Or you can lay the bike on it's side and shake it out Old and Disgraceful -
stock exhaust mod (b-king )
ptolemyx replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in Advice on Repairing and maintaining your bike
Please don't do this Dave. I'm sure you'll agree it's a bit of an "agricultural" mod and as I said before it will not make much difference to the sound and once the stock silencer is buggered it's buggered for good. I think I've wisely put all my stock parts in storage in perfect condition and strongly urge you to do the same. Get some Yoshi's which you can fit beneath the stock "rocket launcher" covers for a decent sounding exhaust with the stock look that you like. Old and Disgraceful -

So how about the few of us who can do 2013 hop on the Plymouth-Santander ferry in June, do a few days and report back for the 2014 mob to get a feel for Eurobiking. I've used Brittany Ferries many times - they can sort out a ferry and hotels package for us, might even get a discount..... Old and Disgraceful

B-king back on sale in the uk !!
ptolemyx replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
The "new" B-Kings are old ones with the naff blue colour scheme. Not all paint even and with those pig ugly orange wheels. Still if you bolt a wardrobe on the back with panniers and tank bag you can hide some of it Now gold wheels on a faster black B-King is a different matter Seiously though, IMHO the B-King will soon become a collectable classic irrespective of the colour scheme. Those of us with the good taste to be blessed with B-King ownership are all likely to keep so get one while you can Old and Disgraceful -

wearing a helmet on a pushbike
ptolemyx replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
It's not coming off a pushbike, which as Dave says can be akin to falling over on the pavement. It's the fact that cyclists, like us, SHOULD be on the road; together with lorries, busses, Volvo drivers, caravanners etc. I don't wear decent riding gear just because of what I might do - it's primarily to minimise the consequences of what others might do to me. Some people don't have the common sense to be reasonable in safety matters and we need legislation (that is enforced) to save society from their excessive foolhardiness. Old and Disgraceful -

ptolemyx replied to Davehutch-hutchs's topic in The Pub "Tinker and Budget"
Well one died not wearing one didn't he, otherwise Wiggo wouldn't have spoken up???? Just because cyclist fatalities don't make the headlines doesn't mean it's not a problem with the roads and traffic as they are now - not like when we were kids all those years ago. Certain infringements of personal choice are definitely for the greater good; seatbelts, motor bike helmets and I'd agree with cycling helmets. I'd also go so far as to suggest cyclist have insurance like motorised road users and that the duty to obey normal courtesies like not riding on pavements, not going through red lights and obeying one way signage were also enforced. Our freedoms go hand in hand with our responsibilities. Old and Disgraceful -

Most of the fastest riders on the road get there by smooth progress, maintaining speed - fast pace, minimal brakes. Like Mike Hailwood used to ride. Hanging off to get the knee down, a la Casey Stoner, doesn't help. Keep such bollocks antics to the appropriate place, on the racetrack and when you want to be a hooligan Nice going Chad As above, you only need the bum half a cheek off the seat, tuck the shoulder and get your weight over the front more and make sure your still looking far ahead past the corner exit - it's then down to the size of your balls - and chads look massive Old and Disgraceful

I've been stupid enough to have owned two French cars, a Citroen Xantia and a Renault Espace. It seems our friends across the channel have a different logic to the rest of the world when putting cars together. I'm now driving a boring Vauxhall Astra, at least if it goes wrong the answer/repair SHOULD be within the realms of human understanding Old and Disgraceful

Firstly, I wouldn't worry too much about a category C (uneconomical to repair) as nowadays just scratch a side panel and the assessor is likely to give a catC assessment. However, points to ponder..... Why didn't the seller say it'd had an insurance claim resulting in catC assessment? Why did the bike have a replacement engine? Though you've now got the original motor also. Why was the bike sold by "an innocent looking lady" instead of her thug/moron/criminal brother? Anyways good luck with the Bandit Old and Disgraceful
