  1. Sorry it's a bit of a gloomy topic, but I feel like I've got good friends on here and want to share this with you. As some will know, my mum hasn't been in great shape for some time, and she finally gave up this afternoon. Dad was with her and she died peacefully in her sleep. So night night mum, you were great, we'll all miss you.
  2. I'd have certainly stopped to get the pigeon
  3. What year's the frame/reg mate? and what sort of money are you after?
  4. Well, bon chance with your foray under the tank. Learning is a wonderful if occasionally scary business.
  5. Years ago I had a similar problem with a Land Rover. Drove fine until I tried to give it some big pedal. It would pretty much cut out. Turned out that the wire spiralling which stabilises the air hose had broken, and the engine was literally choking itself by causing the air hose to collapse.
  6. Those holes in the nose have hoses inside which direct cool air into the airbox. As the bike is moving forward the air is "rammed" into the engine at speed. If the hoses split or become dislodged they may give breathing problems resulting in loss of power and poor fuelling.
  7. Does the ZXR400 have ramair scoops? Possibly split hose or a loose/split airbox connection somewhere?
  8. What about Rimatron on the old B*****t forum. He used to flog those M & S ones for next to nowt. They're pretty good too.
  9. If memory serves, what I recall of Worcester is the left handed shop there used to be there. Very, erm, handy. At least if you're cursed with the old sinister as I am.
  10. You doing them yourself? No mate my buddy Mash will do that for me for a small consideration.
  11. Tell you what Ken I'm a convert. I've had them on my ZZR for a couple of years and can't praise them enough. Good wear rate, and the best handling tyre I've had on this bike. I've got a set of the old type to fit on my VFR before I take it abroad. Recommended, particularly at such a price.
  12. Phoned these people today to see about a new tyre(Maxxis super touring as per the link) for my Kawasaki, which it turns out is out of stock. However, they are currently offering the Maxxis diamond tread touring tyre at £145 a pair delivered. Worth a sniff IMHO. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAXXIS-YAMAHA-YZF-R7-REAR-180-55-17-MOTORBIKE-MOTORCYCLE-TOURING-TYRE-/280813014417?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4161c28d91#ht_2963wt_1270
  13. My 31st wedding anniversary today. We got married on Cup Final day 1981-Man city 1, Tottenham 1. Anyway, thanks for another year to Rose, I still luv ya
  14. Well, I've said it before-Rossi is yesterday's man. He's lost the hunger and he's on a bike with issues . I never subscribed to the hysterical hero worship that surrounded him but I can see the grid is a less glamorous place were Red not on it. Nevertheless we may yet see an interesting season with a much smaller gap between the top four or five riders, although I suspect Stoner on the Honda has to do something catastrophically wrong not to retain the title. So to Vale I'd be happy to say "so long and thanks for all the fish"
  15. Well, I pretty much don't drink. I have an occasional Guinness when I'm working away as I am right now (and the company's paying ) but I'm not a social drinker. Truth is I couldn't afford to anyway, unless I was prepared to give up something like my bikes or my flat abroad. Don't miss it mind
  16. Still cheap fun I'd say. You could always stop drinking & smoking (if you do of course )
  17. Cor mate that's a tough, erm, break welcome to the forum and speedy recovery. What's the prognosis if I may ask?
  18. Looks like one of those guys in the first pic is local to me since he's got Ashfield tattooed on his back. Years ago they were known as the Mofos until they got a chapter charter from the HAMC. Used to come down to our bike club and not want to pay to get in. Happy days
  19. I might manage a ride up to work but that's my lot still hopefully 4 weeks today I'll be on the ferry to Santander with my VFR
  20. No one likes a bit of luggage more than me, although TBF I've had no choice in recent years as my old ZZR has been my company car. And if you want to use a bike as anything other than a toy you need something, but I've got to say that rig up on the Z1000 is a fuckin monstrosity mate. I'd have to say sayonara to that thing on such a lovely bike. Get a half decent little tail pack or just strap a tank bag on the back seat as I've done on occasions. Only thing is security of course, but on the few occasions I'd guess you actually need a lockable box, get the spanners out. It's not impossible to buy the odd replacement Nyloc nut.
  21. Hands free all the way for me, otherwise I can't type on my lappy.....
  22. Sincere condolences mate. It's likely that the hospital will withdraw medication from my mum in the next day or two and allow nature to run it's course, so I know only too well what you're going through. Difficult times, but you will come out the other side.
  23. Like that French film, Banlieu 13, with the nuclear device on the roof. Wonder if you get a council tax rebate?
  24. Thanks gang, probably going to book ferry tonight. I'll be back on Monday anyway, it's a bit of an in-out job. As an aside,a Dutch chap on the ZZR forum wants to meet me on the way back to Calais for a coffee and a handshake. Great thing the internet, always feel like you're among friends-not least on here of course.
