Not for the first time I read on a forum about someone having their leg lifted over tyres. So much crap is talked about tyres, treads, compounds, lean angles etc it's untrue. Literally untrue. Unless you're Vale Rossi most combinations of commercially available tyres will get you from A to B in good order. Some may grip a bit more in the rain, some will warm up quicker than others, some will work better at extreme lean angles, but those of us who ride well within our own, and therefore our bike's, capabilities, have nothing to fear. Thank god I'm a tightwad!

running in advice

Nice & easy up to your first service Dave, no hard acceleration as Gaz said, up to 40% of max revs. Then from say 500 miles to 1500 build up the use of revs and accel gradually, occasional bursts if possible when riding downhill and the bike is not under load. DON'T be too gentle or you'll finish up with a slug. Modern bikes are so well built they pretty much will stand thrash from day 1, so a bit of care and you're sound as a pound for 100k miles minimum. -

Have a skim through this Dave. Like I said, I'd suspect an auto update has changed your browser properties. Are you running same platform on both computers? This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true: The Web page includes an image type that is not supported by Internet Explorer. The Show Pictures check box is not selected on the Advanced tab of the Internet Options dialog box in Internet Explorer, or the Toggle Images.exe Web accessory was used to disable images in Internet Explorer. The image is displayed based on a script, an ActiveX control, a cookie, a Java program, or HTTP referral information, and your computer or network is configured to block one or more of these features. For example, you may have Internet Explorer or Symantec Corporation Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) 2002 configured to block one or more of these features. Internet Explorer cannot determine the character set (also known as the code page or encoding) that is used by the Web page, or a file or registry key that is required to display the Web page that has the appropriate character set may be missing or damaged. By default, Internet Explorer uses the character set that is specified in the HTTP content type that is returned by the server, the character set that is specified by the meta element in the Web page document, or your Encoding preference if no HTTP content type is returned by the server and no meta element is specified in the Web page document.

What makes you say that Alan I think you'll find the reach to the bars and the claustrophic footpeg position not to your liking. Awesome bike, great to look at and make a fuss of, but owning one is a different thing. Just like kids. As hypertourers go I have to say it's way short of a ZZR1400 and TBH I think I'd sooner go for a Blackbird. But for a Sunday afternoon blat and a conversation piece wherever you stop, yep, go for it.

Got back last night, jeez it felt cold when I came off the ferry! I had a slight problem with my visor as it's tinted & I'd forgotten how early it gets dark. To make matters worse some yoyo knocked it off a table on board & broke the visor lugs, so I had to gaffer tape it shut luckily most of the road between Plymouth & Nottingham had lighting-didn't even slow me down.
