  1. Amen, Sister Cholette! I would like add to what Cholette said in terms of getting quiet and tapping into the place of peace. This seems like the type of decision that calls for prayer and fasting. Consider a 3 day fast and seek the Lord on this matter (Acts 13:24). If you feel a sense of peace about going to Vietnam, then go. I also agree with what Cholette said about faith. After the period of fasting, step out on faith and take action. As long as your focus is to serve God and give Him glory in all that you do, you can't go wrong no matter what your decision. I also pray peace for you and the Lord will give you wisdom regarding this matter.
  2. Amen, Cholette! Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10) - expect great things ahead!
  3. Amen! I was going to add that justblueskies may want to consider purchasing a Parallel Bible. It's layout is such that the same scriptures appear side by side on the same page - one side in NIV, the other side in KJV. There are other combinations but this one is very common. You can find it in a Christian bookstore or online at one of the Christian book websites or even amazon.com...

  14. hind'sfeet - I'm praying for you now that the Holy Spirit would direct you to it in Jesus' name! Do you recall the last time that you had to use it? Would it be in a different purse or workbag/totebag? A certain file/box/drawer/car?
  15. Hi Danielle - I stand in agreement with you that the Lord exalts your candidate to the hiring firm and that they select him and also that the Lord would enalrge your territory. In Jesus' name, Amen!
  16. I totally agree with Cholette and Connie! As a single mom also (and caretaker of an elderly parent), I struggle with balancing and prioritizing commitments - there is so much that I would like to be involved in and have often found myself overextended, so much to do and so little time. I've had to learn the hard way to downsize my responsibilities and to really think long and hard before committing to something to ensure that I'm not overextended, aka stressed out, always running late, not spending enough time much less quality time with my family, forgetting what I commited to, irritable, and a host of other things... ... so I need to make sure that once I commit to something that I can complete it, complete it in a way that honors God (Colossians 3:17), and complete it in a way that doesn't interfere with my primary ministry, i.e., my family. I will pray that you will be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Blessings, Lurdys
  17. justblueskies - - enter the data into the cell - hit the 'Enter' key on your keyboard - move your cursor to the top of the column that your data is in. Click to highlight the column. Now click on 'Format' from the Menu at the top of the page, then select 'Column' then AutoFit Selection. The column width should automatically adjust to fit the data that you inputted. If the column is now too wide (which may happen because of other data in the column or the column heading title), then double click on the column divider line on the right side of the column (hope that was clear....) You can also check out the Microsoft Help site: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel/results.aspx?qu=column+width&sc=9&av=ZXL120 Hope this helps!
  18. Happy Birthday! May the Lord shower you with an abundance of blessings today!
  19. Glory to God, I'm glad you were encouraged! Meditate on those scriptures and let them settle in your spirit! Walk into your new appointment knowing that He is leading you and will NEVER forsake you as you move forward. Let us know how things turn out once you're settled and come back as often as you need to for a new filling of encouragement! Will keep you in prayer in the meantime!
  20. Yes, Traveller, you CAN do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. You are the head and not the tail. If God be for you, who can be against you? The Lord IS your light AND your salvation, whom shall you fear? The Lord has not given you a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The Lord will contend with those who contend with you. You are a marvelous work, wonderfully and fearfully made! The very hairs on your head are all numbered, Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Do not fear, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him,And He will show them His covenant. The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him,And delivers them. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed...In God (I will praise His word),In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? He will bless those who fear the LORD,Both small and great. The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe. You must not fear them, for the LORD your God Himself fights for you. Then the LORD said to him, “Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.” Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
  21. Amen, NeWine. As NeWine stated, the problem with meeting our physical needs is that they are never satisfied, they can consume us and eventually destroy us if not addressed. Paul made reference to the fact that even though something isn’t sinful, it isn’t always good for us. (1 Corinthians 6:12). He also addressed this tension between physical and spiritual needs in Romans 8. He explains that by setting our focus on things of the spirit rather than on things of the flesh, we please God and we also have peace in our lives. Further, with the spirit of God now residing in us, we can be free from the power of sin through Him that works through us because we’re focused on Him rather than our physical desires: Romans 8 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Sonship Through the Spirit 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. As it relates to your second statement, I think the thing that concerns me is that it can be interpreted in a way that essentially makes it loose advice. Again, I may have misunderstood where you were coming from, but your statement has a connotation of 'do whatever you want and let the chips fall where they may' and this is problematic because it's not biblical nor it is reasonable/practical advice. While I agree that experience is the best teacher, God gives us certain principles/parameters within which we are called to live so that we can experience the abundant blessings and eternal life that He offers us and so that we can save ourselves from trouble and heartache by not being obedient. Again in Romans, Paul states that though we're under God's grace, that doesn't give us license to sin freely: 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Throughout the New Testament scripture shows us that we can't serve both our physical desires and our spiritual desires. Our physical needs must become subject to our spiritual needs which are greater and produce much more joy than the lack of physical needs produces suffering (Romans 8:18 - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.). Also, I want to clarify a couple of points because I don't want to be misunderstood: - My main concern wasn't whether or not through your statements you were approving the original poster's (OP's) recent activities, it was that your statements suggested that you were condoning all behavior and came across as "it's our lives and we can do with our individual lives what we want". Which in itself is inaccurate as we were bought at a price and are God's property, our lives are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body[c] and in your spirit, which are God’s.). - I agree with you that we can't judge the OP. None of us are in a position to judge others, we all fall short of the glory of God and are all works in progress. The moment we get overconfident in our righteousness, that's the precise moment the enemy will have the open door to come into our lives and wreak havoc. (1 Corinthians 10:12, Romans 3:23, Matthew 7:1, Luke 6:37). - While I am a moderator and one of my roles is indeed to ensure that order on the site in maintained, I posted my question to you and my subsequent comments as one Christian to another, not as a moderator. in other words, I would've taken this action regardless of my role on the site. It is easy to read something online (or hear something IRL) and accept it as Truth without questioning it. There are some members here who are young in their walk with the Lord and I wouldn't want them to walk away with an incomplete (if not inaccurate) understanding of Christian doctrine as is so easy to do on web based forums (and IRL too). As a result, it is important that we get clarity when needed and have a dialogue to make sure we're all on the same page and to make sure that page is in the Bible.
