  1. Finally got a day off so took the Mrs & her sis over Chrome Hill, aka the Dragon's Back. Pretty tough climb for my old and out of condition legs, but well worth the effort. I think you'll see from the pics how it got it's name.
  2. I think they're a really funky little bike. I did start looking at smaller bikes when I hit 9 points in case I got a ban & had to downsize for a bit when I got my licence back. Anyway, happily I've kissed off 3 of those points now so I got the speedy instead.
  3. Some years ago I passed through Pratt's Bottom
  4. .....or France http://www.lovethesepics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Pussy-France-Corps-Nuds-France-Anus-France.jpg
  5. ....Abba stand for my Speedy. I'm a bit concerned about the stand for one thing and getting the bike vertical means I may be able to squeeze another one in too. With a bit of luck...
  6. Dave, I'd say I know my way round auto electrics well enough to wire your lights up so worry ye not dude.
  7. Sincere condolences mate. Take comfort from the fact your dad's at peace now, as hard as that may be at the moment.
  8. Nowt like a puncture to focus the attention Glad you got away with it mate.
  9. Well, had a nice little run out, breakfast at Flash Stores (the Old Smithy at Monyash is better) right round the Roaches and back through Longnor. Took some great pics, but my SD card has gone spastic on me so you'll just have to take my word for it. Can't tell you how far cuz I still don't know how to work the Speed Triple's trip computer but around 100 miles I guess.
  10. I need to work tomorrow but figure on a bit of a spin in the morning. Probably get some brekkie at Monyash or the Roaches tearooms, take the scenic route home. I'm not planning going fast, just want my knees in the breeze for a bit. I'll check in tomorrow morning, see how the weather looks, then if anyone's interested can arrange a meet point.
  11. I've just driven back from under that band of rain as it passed over Cumbria, and it was pretty bad. Roads have flooded, river Cocker looks well up already. I wouldn't fancy riding a bike in it, certainly not at race speeds.
  12. nice one! where is cockermouth? It's in Cumbria dude
  13. ...I'm staying in Cockermouth tonight, and have just been up to the chippy for some supper. As it's dry there are a few bikes knocking about-no surprise there. But it's been a pretty eclectic and IMHO tasteful selection. Two orange Speedies cruised up the high street with Arrow cans gurgling, an Aprilia Shiver with nice underseat cans, then a Duke 1198. Even the SV650 that came past had a nice paint job and fruity can So hats off to the bikers round here. They have taste
  14. Up until buying my first VFR in 2002 I'd never been behind a fairing. However,as an avowed fairy I am glad to have a fairing quite a lot of the time. If you're on something slow like a B King it's maybe not so bad, but I've had to do a lot of distance at speed in all weathers in the past, and I've been very grateful of my barn door ZZR.
  15. Only just got in Dave so no-been working away so things to sort out at home
  16. Remember Airplane when the jet is cruising along to the unmistakeable drone of piston engines. Although I suspect that was deliberate
  17. TBH it's been a bit dull in the last year or two, although it looks as if Marquez is going to stir the pond somewhat. Not a chance of me paying for it, but I'll miss it for all that.
  18. Just booked one way flights to Barcelona in June so get a train to the flat, couple of days to check the bike over, and hopefully it's all systems go to ride my VFR back to Blighty. Only got a week off work so can't hang about, but time enough to see a few sights & some decent roads.
  19. In fact I'm now off for a very quick spin on the Speedy. Won't be long
  20. Good work guys, I'll try again next time. Today worked out not too bad in the end-I went to my job on the bike and a pleasant route it was too. Came back the long way so rattled up close to 100 miles and the ZZR now has 65,000 exactly.
  21. Work for me otherwise I'd have been there. If you have some time, take the B5055 out of town, straight across the A515 at a slightly offset crossroads for Longnor, right the way to the A53. Bit on the bumpy side but some great views and you can stop for a cuppa at the Roaches tearooms if you turn towards Leek, or the Flash store on the way into Buxton. Did that route a couple of weeks a go.
  22. Of course, asking and getting are two different things, but I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a turnip somewhere with more money than sense who might dive in. And they should be flogged with barbed wire for perpetuating this kind of stupidity.
  23. Just off to work now, I'll be running the machine tomorrow, another job out on Monday. Enjoy & stay safe those of you who get out
